Barry Goldberg founded TAPPA Group International, which stands for Technology & Package Planning Associates, in 1998. TAPPA’s primary focus is business-to-business marketing. Prior to forming TAPPA Group, Mr.Goldberg was the Director of the Global Packaging Group for a major international consulting firm, where he built an extensive practice. He also worked for a British-based consulting firm that focused on the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
TAPPA Group has conducted hundreds of proprietary consulting assignments dealing with packaging for the pharmaceutical, food, beverage and other industries. He has been involved in a number of major acquisitions through the conduct of market due diligence for both financial and strategic buyers. Throughout his career he has assisted clients in evaluating complex business opportunities and determining the relevance of particular technologies for specific applications. He has conducted many international assignments and is fluent in Spanish
Mr. Goldberg holds a patent on a high barrier co-extrusion, blow molding technology, U.S. patent number 5,009,939, for fabricating combination paperboard/plastic trays. He is also a co-inventor of 4 patents for a new child-resistant package technology which is being marketed under the trade name MazeTech. The U.S. patent numbers are: 8,113,366; 8,511,491; 9,586,736; & 11,505,374. The technology utilizes a plastic bottle and a 1-piece plastic closure. The latest patent was issued in November 2022 and is focused on source reduction. For smaller size bottles (i.e., 100 cc and below)
used for pre-packaged prescription and OTC pharmaceutical products, the MazeTech technology uses approximately 20 to 25% less plastic compared to bottles with push down & turn closures. It is also easier for many senior adults to open than bottles with push down & turn closures. This new technology has been tested and passed the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission protocol tests for Child-Resistant & Senior Adult Friendly packages.
